CLAUDE LALANNE
Claude Lalanne (1924–2019) was a French visual artist, recognized for her sculptures inspired by nature and the plant world. She is best known for her sculptural creations combining art and design, particularly her works in bronze and metal, which often take the form of plants, animals, or functional objects. Alongside her husband, François-Xavier Lalanne, she was part of the surrealist design movement, where the functional object transcends its utilitarian purpose to become an artwork in its own right. Claude Lalanne made history by reinventing the concept of furniture and decorative sculpture, with her works exhibited in prestigious institutions and many private collections. Her poetic vision and technical mastery made her an essential figure in contemporary art.
