Zadkine et l'Art Déco: Musée Zadkine

14 November 2025 - 12 April 2026

HELENE BAILLY gallery is delighted to lend the work Tête d’Homme by Ossip Zadkine to the Musée Zadkine, from November 14, 2025, to April 12, 2026.

Created in 1928, Tête d’Homme by Ossip Zadkine reflects the synthesis of sculptural archaism and formal modernity that defines the artist’s work. Carved in warm, dense Ceylon wood, this stylized head—with geometric features and inlaid eyes—conveys a silent, penetrating interiority. The gaze, fixed yet vibrant, seems to transcend the material, endowing the sculpture with an almost mystical aura. Influenced by African art, Cubism, and ancient statuary, Zadkine here explores the essence of humanity more than a realistic likeness, offering a timeless figure imbued with memory and spirit.
