ICÔNES MODERNES : PORTRAITS DU XXÈME SIÈCLE: 71, RUE DU FAUBOURG SAINT-HONORÉ, PARIS 8E

14 October - 14 December 2024

This exhibition highlights the transformations of portraiture in modern art. It aims to showcase aesthetic innovations, conceptual novelties, and the unprecedented issues faced by artists in the 20th century.

The five sections that compose it provide a broad panorama of medias, themes, and forms of expression. They serve as an educational introduction to a genre that is in perpetual resurgence.

Initiated by the Impressionists, the avant-garde movements have nothing in common but their audacity. Symbolism, Fauvism, Dadaism, Cubism, as well as Futurism and Orphism, the detachment from pompier art opened up many new perspectives for artists. Galerie HELENE BAILLY presents a rare selection of portraits that provide a window on these avant-garde artists.
